It is beneficial to cut a dogs nails regularly to prevent any overgrown nails causing discomfort to the feet.

It is also beneficial in some breeds to keep the paw pads clear of fur to allow full grip on smooth surfaces and prevent any matting or build up of dirt and debris in the pads of feet
